Come join David for a late night gathering at the Blue Fire Supper Club. David, his band, and like he says…You Never Know Who Might Show Up.
Blue Fire is located at 4275 South Durango. 462-5400. He’ll be Swingin’ from 9:30 till the Boys go home.
Diners can catch the “Latin Songbird” Rosanna Telford from 6-9.
The kitchen will be open late. It’s the happenin’ place.

A Hectic 2 Weeks
I’ve been so busy with all my entertainment events that I haven’t had time to let you know what you’ve been missing. I think I’ll work backwards staring with last night. Spending Sunday night at the Suncoast showroom thoroughly enjoying Bill Fayne’s wonderful production of “Rogers and Hart and Hammerstein too!” What great talent Bill put together. No one writes lyrics like that anymore. What a shame. Bill, take that show to the SmithCenter, you’ve got my support.
Saturday night we were at the SmithCenter to see La Cage. What an enjoyable and delightful evening.
Friday night, which I still can remember, started with Frankie Moreno rockin out the place. He never ceases to amaze me. The horns, the strings, the rhythm section and of course the new addition “The Dancer”. Spend the couple of bucks and head to the Stratosphere to catch his show. Well the night wasn’t over yet. Actually it was just getting started. David Perrico was burning down the Palms with his 18 piece band featuring Naomi Mauro on vocals. The band consisted of so many top name players that if I started to mention them all, the next time he played there, you’d have to get tickets days in advance. Plus I know I’d forget someone. Don’t miss him the next time he plays anywhere.
Thursday of course was my “Jazz in Summerlin” series at the Blue Fire. Wednesday was Rosanna Telford “The Latin Song Bird” also at the Blue Fire Supper Club. And Tuesday was Skip Martin and Friends, guess where, at the Blue Fire. Something must be happening at the Blue Fire. Stay tuned to my blog/calendar and facebook, to find out what’s going on there. Monday was Diana Krall at the SmithCenter. Sunday dinner at a friends. Saturday was a smashing 50th wedding anniversary party at Bali Hi Country Club with entertainment by Kelly Clinton, Ronnie Rose and a kick ass band. Friday was Rob Garrett’s Neil Diamond tribute show. (Terrific). Then Thursday, Wednesday and Tuesday, my events at the Blue Fire. Wow, I did all that and played some golf in-between.
Well, I’m not going to spell check or highlight anything, just post it. And by the way, a new look is coming to my blog. When it hits, you’ll know.

Rick Arroyo and his Latin Jazz Quartet
Playing all forms of Jazz. Specializing in Latin Jazz and Salsa. Rick Arroyo plays, Drums, Congas, Timbales, Vibraphone, Composes and arranges. Born in the Bronx, New York, Rick Began playing piano at the age of 9, drums at age 11, congas and vibraphone at the age of 14. He started playing professionally at the age of 15.
Composer and arranger, Rick appeared in The Coral Reef Lounge at Mandalay Bay every Monday night for four years with his 10 piece Latin dance band, The Latin Percussion Ensemble. He has played at The Blue Note, The House Of Blues, The Rio, The MGM Grand, Bellagio’s, Caesars Palace, The Stardust, New York, N.Y. Has performed for President Barack Obama, Mauri Povich, Jenny Jones, Senator Harry Reid, Shelley Berkley, Oscar Goodman, Robin Leach, Mohammad Ali.

Positive and passionate about life, is the best way of describing Grammy Award winner Skip Martin – lead vocalist, trumpet player, songwriter, artist and producer…
Originally from the Bay Area, California and now based in Las Vegas, Skip has a string of impressive professional achievements and performances to his name.
To date Skip has entertained millions of people around the world as a former lead vocalist for Kool & the Gang and lead vocalist for the Dazz Band, (which won them a Grammy Award for the song “Let It Whip”).
Other achievements include Platinum & Gold Records recipient with the two major recording groups, a total of twenty-seven albums (seven with Kool & the Gang and fourteen with The Dazz Band), music publisher, producer of both pop, R&B and jazz albums to name a few.
His tenor voice has a warm eclectic style developed through the years under the guise of maestro Stevie Wonder. Skip lists Miles Davis, Sammy Davis and Donny Hathaway as major influences on his musical development. And let’s not forget his horn playing.

Join us for a special Composers Showcase on August 8. We will sadly be saying farewell to many of our talented friends at Phantom: the Las Vegas Spectacular, who have been such a staple and core of our showcase for the last six years. This will be the last Composers Showcase before the scheduled closing of Phantom on September 2nd! The Showcase will go on, but we will miss this extraordinarily gifted group of artists!
