WELL, I’M FINALLY getting out and off the couch. Here’s how the weekend went. Thursday night I had a chance to see Gilbert Gottfried. A funny man. His shtick is so ridiculous that you just have to laugh, and that’s what comedy is all about. The last 15 minutes or so were from his “Dirty CD”. I actually enjoyed the clean stuff better. P.S. He’s the Affleck Duck.
Friday night we enjoyed a pretty good dinner at Garfield’s. Afterwards Frankie Moreno and his band were playing next door in the “Garfield’s Jazz on the Lake” concert series. The 100 or so people heard nothing that even slightly resembled jazz, but most enjoyed the music. The high energy band, Russ on guitar, Mike on drums and Frankie’s brother Tony on stand up bass, had the crowd tappin and clappin for most of the night. I finally had to leave after a half a dozen or so 8 year old boys took over the dance floor. C’est la vie.
The night wasn’t over yet. We stopped to see Sean West and the AK Vegas Band at their, hopefully, new home: Mama Leonie’s Ristorante. With Elvis, Marilyn and quite a few Sinatra’s hanging and singing, I’m sure they will do well.
Sunday night was dinner at Salvatore’s in the Suncoast. Always a good meal except… it’s not a steak house. So forget the beef. “It’s All About The Music” starring Domenick Allen, was after the early dinner. I’ll tell you about that later.
