ONE HECK OF a busy, good busy, weekend. From a late night of wine tasting on Thursday, followed by a double header on Friday, to a Saturday night birthday party that was the bomb. One of the best parties in a long, long time.
On Thursday, after tasting 7 different wines, all from theLodi region, we continued to knock off 2 other bottles of Vino with some friends.
Friday started with a Rat Pack Tribute at the Rampart, headed by a talented friend Peter Pavone. We went from the Rat Pack classics to Jazz singer Windy Karigianes performing at the Dispensary Lounge on E Trop. Her sweet velvety vocals were backed up by a trio of top notch musicians, Mike Mechen-drums, Fred Wastein-bass and Uli Geissendoerfer-keys. Another very late night.
After recuperating somewhat on Saturday, we proceeded to a birthday party in honor of LJ Harness, a very talented drummer. The party was hosted at the house that Sammy Davis Jr. built. When Sammy fell on some hard times, Jay Sarno, the man who built Caesar’s Palace, finished the construction of the 10,000 sq. foot party house. With lots of pictures and memorabilia spread throughout the house, it certainly made for a festive atmosphere. A band played and many, many singers and musicians sat in. Drinking, eating, drinking, dancing and more drinking unquestionably attributed to the gala celebration.
Sunday was truly a day of rest but tonight it all starts over again. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Viva Las Vegas!
What a great town. There’s so much to do. We’ll never die…we’re too busy.
Jay Sarno Started Ceazars Palace, ran out of money & sold out & bought Circus, Circus. Was there a few years.
